About Us

Jennifer:

I remember my very first quilt... hand appliqued butterflies... it was an adventure I never forgot. (side note, I was in high school) It took 15 years before I ever thought about sewing anything again. I began to look for something to create that I could share with others, and my mother and her sisters were quilting together --so I thought why not--and that is how it all began. Now we quilt and share together. Hopefully you will enjoy sharing with us.:)

Jeanette:

I remember my first quilt. I started it when I was about 12. My great aunt helped me get started. I picked out the grandmothers flower garden. So we made a template from cardboard and I cut out the hexagons. I started with the center and then the next row and then the next. I strung them on a thread so that I could pull off the center and then each piece as I needed it. I sewed them all by hand. The only sewn on the sewing machine was the border. I even hand quilted it. I put two cotton battings so that it would be nice and warm (that was probably the dumbest thing I ever did. The reason I put two was because my future husband said his mother would put two to make them fluffier but he was talking about ployester battings which I had never seen before because where I came from I had only seen cotton.) It took me till I was 18 to finish. I was a freshman in college and finished it and gave it to my then boyfriend who was to become my husband.

I remember in the 80's buying a rotary cutter and mat and thinking I was in heaven. Fabric was cheap but there wasnt many stores devoted to quilt fabric and it wasnt a hot hobby.  I come from a long line of quilter who quilted out of necessity. The main reason I quilt is out of love. Love for those I give quilts to. Also, love for fabric and beautiful designs. It brings out my creative side.
